The production and transport of "metals" in galactic discs

We have performed a series of "chemodynamic" simulations of isolated dwarf disc galaxies to determine how metals escape dwarfs and pollute the circumgalactic medium, and in particular the sensitivity to the choice of diffusion algorithm. These simulations compare a "strong" diffusion model with a "weak" diffusion model, as well as a base-line model without any diffusion. I will give a general introduction to chemodynamic simulations of galaxies, and then present our results: that changing the diffusion strength completely changes the nature of metal transport and the distribution of metals within the galaxy.
